Mitsui O.S.Okay. Strains, Ltd, its group firm, Ferry Sunflower Ltd, and Kyushu Electrical Energy Co., Inc. (Kyuden), introduced that the Sunflower Kurenai, Japan’s first LNG-fuelled ferry ordered by MOL and operated by Ferry Sunflower, has obtained its first LNG gasoline provide on the Port of Beppu in Oita Prefecture (on the north wharf of Pier 3) from Kyuden.
LNG gasoline was equipped by way of truck-to-ship to the ferry – the primary time in Japan – with a skid which linked 4 tank vehicles to the ferry. Not like a traditional technique of receiving LNG gasoline provide by connecting a single tank truck to LNG-fuelled vessels, using the skid allows the ferry to obtain LNG gasoline from 4 tank vehicles concurrently, dashing up the method. The ferry shall be deployed on the Osaka-Beppu route operated by Ferry Sunflower and begin industrial service from Osaka to Beppu on 13 January 2023. Thereafter, LNG gasoline shall be equipped when the ferry calls on the Port of Beppu. The LNG gasoline equipped this time shall be used for trial operation forward of the launch of business service.
