Green steel on the move in US and Middle East | Hydrogen


It’s been an important week in green steel, with market threshold and certification moves in US and the Middle East.

Sweden steel producer SSAB’s first near-zero CO2e steel with hydrogen-reduced-iron has met International Energy Agency and First Movers Coalition thresholds.

The green steel will be available for use in US energy equipment business GE Vernova’s onshore wind towers.

It is being produced at SSAB’s Montpelier, Iowa factory, using recycled scrap metal, green electricity, biocoal and renewable natural gas.
