Zachry Group wins FEED contract for Lake Charles Methanol II project | Methanol & e-fuels


US engineering and construction company Zachry Group has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the $3.24bn Lake Charles Methanol II in Louisiana.

Lake Charles Methanol (LCM), a Houston-based methanol producer, announced plans for the plant in February 2024 and is targeting a final investment decision (FID) in the first half of 2026.

If plans go ahead, Lake Charles Methanol II will convert natural gas and renewable gas into hydrogen while capturing carbon dioxide to produce around 3.6 million tonnes of low-carbon methanol a year.

Additionally, the plant will capture around one million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.
