Risks of green hydrogen must be understood and mitigated, says Marsh | Hydrogen


The viability of green hydrogen and green ammonia projects as insurance risks was one focus at analyst group Wood Mackenzie’s Hydrogen Conference 2025 in London last week.

With more and more hydrogen and ammonia projects reaching final investment, there remains a question of the long-term risks that attach to what are relatively new technologies that need to deliver reliably over decades.

Prakash Patel, Senior Vice-President of Hydrogen and CCS Risk Engineering at the global insurance brokerage Marsh, explained that many of the questions in his mind may not be completely specific to new clean fuels.
