APAC IG 2025: China ‘ahead of India’ in decarbonisation drive | asia-pacific industrial gas conference 2025


India may hope to be a disruptor in decarbonisation, but China has been working on it for 25 years – and is some way ahead.

The argument was made as part of a wide-ranging panel discussion at gasworld’s Asia-Pacific Industrial Gas Conference 2025 in Bangkok today.

Speaking as part of a panel debate moderated by GWGI’s Rob Cockerill, Ravin Mirchandani of Ador Group noted that China has built the scale and developed technologies for decarbonisation, and it can also offer unmatched prices: something like a quarter of the European cost base in many contexts.

“That reality puts other regions, like Europe, in real jeopardy,” he added.
