UK grid investment allocates £20m biomethane funding and aims to cut industrial bills | United Kingdom


The UK’s energy intensive industries could see bills fall by around 10-to-15% following a £28bn grid upgrading investment which includes £20m funding for biomethane.

Most of the funding (£17.8bn) will go towards maintaining Britain’s gas networks.

The approved investment will fund 80 transmission projects and associated works nationwide over the next five years.

The UK’s four gas distribution networks (Cadent Gas, Northern Gas Networks, SGN and Wales and West Utilities) own, operate and maintain eight gas distribution networks.
