Tokamak Energy partners with Gauss Fusion to advance commercial fusion and helium | Technology Gas News

Private UK company Tokamak Energy has signed a strategic collaboration with European green tech firm Gauss Fusion that will aim to advance transformative high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets and accelerate commercial fusion technology. Gauss Fusion is among the leaders in the industrialisation of fusion energy – having announced a series of tie ups with Italy, Spain, Germany, and France in July – while Tokamak Energy’s business division TE Magnetics has expertise in HTS technology. A commercial fusion plant would be fuelled using two isotopes of hydrogen – deuterium and tritium. The fuel would be heated to form a plasma – that is, an ionised gas comprised of charged particles which can be confined and controlled by powerful magnetic fields. When superheated, the deuterium and tritium combine to produce helium and neutrons, releasing enormous amounts of… Read More »Tokamak Energy partners with Gauss Fusion to advance commercial fusion and helium | Technology Gas News

US research institute to invest R&D hub for hydrogen and carbon capture | Technology Gas News

US-based Honda Research Institute will spend $2.6m on a new Advanced Materials Science Lab which will support research and development for an array of next-generation technologies that could underpin future mobility solutions. Located on the Ohio State University SciTech Campus in Columbus, the facility will advance research in quantum technologies and other nanotechnologies, hydrogen fuel cells, carbon capture technologies, next-gen EV batteries and battery recycling. The campus is already home to Honda’s 99P Labs, which it established in 2018. The facility conducts research into energy and battery tech and mobility-related human-computer interaction. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly limit to access free articles!
