Air Liquide invests $50m to expand Texas hydrogen infrastructure | Hydrogen

Industrial gas major Air Liquide will invest $50m to upgrade existing hydrogen infrastructure as part of newly signed hydrogen supply deals with two US refiners. The investment will expand pipeline capacity and integrate new distribution systems to strengthen Air Liquide’s footprint in Texas, where it already operates pipeline infrastructure and its La Porte hydrogen facility. Air Liquide’s hydrogen pipeline network currently spans over 700km along the Gulf Coast, supplying major industrial hubs across Texas and Louisiana. The company’s Gulf Coast network is also connected to the world’s largest hydrogen cavern in Spindletop, Texas, which it has operated since 2017. Italy makes its first foray into small scale LNG service with OLT’s auctions

Italy’s floating regasification terminal operator OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, controlled by Snam and Igneo Infrastructure Partners, has launched the first auctions for a small scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) (SSLNG) service, achieved through a bidirectional LNG transfer at its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) moored off the coast of Livorno. Germany rolls out €6bn bid chance to decarbonise heavy industry | Decarbonisation News

The German government has launched the first stage of a bidding process for carbon dioxide contracts for difference (CfD), which will take place next year. According to the funding programme, €6bn will be made available to help heavy industries like steel, chemicals, cement, and glass switch to cleaner production methods that emit less CO2. The government will sign 15-year contracts with selected companies. These work like long-term guarantees that cover some of the extra costs that come from using greener technologies instead of traditional, more polluting ones. To decide who gets the money, Germany will hold a competitive auction in 2026. Companies will bid by saying how much funding they need per tonne of CO2 they will save.
