FT Hydrogen Summit: Hydrogen Council urges pragmatism in ‘rollercoaster’ world | drive final investments

The hydrogen industry and the governments that support it in key markets need to maintain focus and keep investing in a changing world. The pitch was made by Ivana Jemelkova, CEO of the Hydrogen Council, which is a key global advocate for the industry. She was addressing delegates in an on-stage interview at the FT Hydrogen Summit 2025 in London. “There are many variables and pressures when it comes to hydrogen. And at times it feels like a rollercoaster ride in relation to the molecule’s regulation. But the trajectory of the hydrogen industry is clear: the industry is growing fast in terms of committed capital, and things are maturing and moving. The strongest large projects, in particular, are succeeding,” said Jemelkova. The need for pragmatism that Jemelkova made was reference to the West’s quest for… Read More »FT Hydrogen Summit: Hydrogen Council urges pragmatism in ‘rollercoaster’ world | drive final investments

John Cockerill Hydrogen raises €116m for electrolyser push

Engineering firm John Cockerill Hydrogen has secured €116m in a second capital raise which enables it to roll out its next generation of pressurised alkaline electrolyser technologies. Fluxys, a Belgian infrastructure group, has joined the operation as a strategic partner after acquiring an undisclosed stake, which opens up the prospect of developing a hydrogen value chain. The support of Belgian sovereign wealth fund SFPIM and regional public body Wallonie Entreprendre complement John Cockerill’s roots, while global tech company SLB and Rely, the joint venture with Technip Energies, strengthen its industrial profile. The group, which secured $230m in a 2024 financing round, is working on a portfolio of projects and plans to deliver them from its global manufacturing centres. The company said the new raise covered “nearly all” the funding needed to scale the hydrogen business.… Read More »John Cockerill Hydrogen raises €116m for electrolyser push

TES and CPC Finland announce Finnish e-NG joint venture | Carbon Dioxide News

Synthetic fuels company Tree Energy Solutions and renewables outfit CPC Finland have launched a joint company, Luoto Energia, which aims to produce electric natural gas (e-NG), the green synthetic gas made from renewable hydrogen and CO2 that TES produces. The project, on a 20-hectare site in an extended area of the Port of Rauma, will have an electrolyser capacity of up to 500MW and is expected to produce around 60,000 tonnes of green hydrogen that can be converted into 125,000 tonnes of e-NG (also known as e-methane) per year. The biogenic CO2 needed for e-NG production will be sourced from Finnish biogenic emitters. Marco Alverà, Co-founder and Chief Executive of TES, said, “As a drop-in fuel, e-NG can be used to decarbonise sectors such as steel, shipping and heavy transport.” The green hydrogen may make… Read More »TES and CPC Finland announce Finnish e-NG joint venture | Carbon Dioxide News

UK launches 10-year industrial strategy with push on clean power and digital

The UK is doubling investment in clean energy industries to more than £30bn a year by 2035 under its 10-year industrial strategy that launches today [23 June]. But the initial 22-page document is light on specific details, beyond ‘prioritising investment’ for the so-called IS-8 categories (advanced manufacturing, defence, clean energy, digital and technology, creative, financial services, life sciences, and professional and business services). The UK government claims the intervention will boosts 7,000 businesses that will see their electricity bills fall 25% from 2027, by up to £40 per megawatt hour. In particular, electricity-intensive manufacturing businesses will be exempt from paying levies such as the renewables obligation, feed-in tariffs and the capacity market, helping level the playing field and make them more internationally competitive. Eligibility and further details on the exemptions will be determined following consultation,… Read More »UK launches 10-year industrial strategy with push on clean power and digital

Orlen eyes European hydrogen supply network after funding boost

The funds will be paid out from the National Recovery Plan budget. Hydrogen Eagle is expected to produce hydrogen using renewable electricity and municipal waste, for the transport and industrial sectors. The other project, Green H2, is focused specifically on Orlen’s refinery operations in Gdańsk. The project will involve a 100MW electrolyser powered by renewable energy, used to decarbonise fuel production at the site. Lotos Green H2, a special-purpose company within Orlen, will run the project. Orlen is aiming to use 350,000 tonnes of renewable and low-emission hydrogen annually by 2035. Orlen Capital announced last month it will invest in Hystar, the Norwegian manufacturer of high-efficiency proton-exchange-membrane electrolysers for large-scale, zero-emission hydrogen production. Hystar is targeting annual production totalling 1.5GW of electrolysers from 2027. Earlier this month Orlen signed a memorandum of understanding with Naftogaz group, its second agreement,… Read More »Orlen eyes European hydrogen supply network after funding boost

Seven countries to receive $1bn towards industrial decarbonisation

Brazil, Egypt, Mexico, Namibia, South Africa, Turkey, and Uzbekistan have been selected for the Climate Investment Funds’ (CIF) first industrial decarbonisation initiative. The multilateral programme is dedicated to reducing industrial greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in developing countries and boosting their economic competitiveness, with the value of green industrial goods projected to reach $2 trillion by 2030. The seven countries will collaborate with multilateral development banks and private sector partners to develop investment plans, which will be submitted to CIF’s governing board for endorsement. They will then gain access to highly concessional funding to scale up clean and circular technologies, such as green hydrogen, waste heat recovery, and low-carbon materials (steel, aluminium, and cement) that are critical to the global energy transition. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or… Read More »Seven countries to receive $1bn towards industrial decarbonisation

Air Products scraps Immingham green hydrogen project in UK | Air Products News

Air Products has scrapped plans to build a large-scale green hydrogen import and production project in the Port of Immingham, UK, blaming a “lack of commitment” by ministers, according to reports. The Immingham Green Energy Terminal, developed with Associated British Ports (ABP), was set to import green hydrogen from Air Products’ 2.2GW Neom project, and produce its own volumes from a 300MW plant. Air Products suggested that the new plant would create 1,400 jobs and over £4.5bn in economic value in the Humber region. The UK Department for Transport approved the plans earlier this year; however, now the US industrial gas major claims that ministers have not offered enough support for the development. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly… Read More »Air Products scraps Immingham green hydrogen project in UK | Air Products News

Russia LNG checks to rise as EU gets tough | Europe

The European Commission has set out legislation to phase out Russian gas by the end of 2027 and will step up tracing and monitoring to minimise circumvention with liquefied natural gas (LNG). While Europe recently introduced its 18th package of sanctions, EU imports of Russian LNG rose 18% to 24.2 bcm last year. Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, said,“Importers will have to provide customs authorities with information concerning the origin of the gas, the identity of the supplier, as well as entry and delivery points for supplies of LNG.” Given the essential role that LNG is expected to play in securing alternative energy supplies in Europe, LNG terminal services for customers from Russia or controlled by Russian undertakings will be also prohibited from 1 January 2026. … to continue reading this article and more,… Read More »Russia LNG checks to rise as EU gets tough | Europe
