Amogy supplies catalysts for ammonia-to-hydrogen use | Ammonia

US-headquartered ammonia-to-power specialist Amogy will supply its ammonia cracking catalyst technology to KBR as part of an agreement which enables the engineering firm to turn ammonia back into hydrogen for use in a range of offshore and industrial applications. Texas-based KBR will benefit from Amogy’s catalyst portfolio, which includes both precious–metal–based and base–metal–based materials. These catalysts increase hydrogen production rates at lower operating temperatures, according to Amogy. “By combining Amogy’s catalyst expertise with KBR’s … technology platforms, we can unlock new opportunities for clean, scalable energy,” said CEO Seonghoon Woo. Ammonia is already being explored as an attractive alternative to fossil fuels for industries such as shipping.
