Samsung E&A breaks ground on Indiana ammonia project | Ammonia

Engineering and project management firm Samsung E&A has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its Wabash low-carbon ammonia project in Indiana, US. The project, to be built in Terre Haute, will produce up to 500,000 tonnes of ammonia and capture 1.67 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The ceremony was held in Washington DC. It is being funded by the US Department of Energy, the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Korea’s Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Environment. Samsung E&A signed an engineering, procurement, and fabrication contract worth approximately KRW680bn (approximately $475m) with Wabash Valley Resources in October last year. As Venezuela faces a regime change, the country’s production recovery is staring at a decade-long timeline despite near-term supply gains, according to Wood Mackenzie, an energy intelligence group, which believes that additional Venezuelan barrels could pressure Brent prices below mid-to high $50 per barrel (bbl) of oil in the first quarter of 2026 amid oversupply and also realign flows, diverting Middle East heavy barrels to Asia and intensifying competition for Canadian crude in the U.S. Gulf Coast.
