Russia LNG checks to rise as EU gets tough | Europe

The European Commission has set out legislation to phase out Russian gas by the end of 2027 and will step up tracing and monitoring to minimise circumvention with liquefied natural gas (LNG). While Europe recently introduced its 18th package of sanctions, EU imports of Russian LNG rose 18% to 24.2 bcm last year. EDP Group and SIAD’s IGAT to build largest solar-and-storage plant in Italy | Italy Gas News

Italian chemicals company IGAT and the utility EDP Energia Italia are to build a distributed generation photovoltaic solar plant. It is the largest EDP project in Italy to be integrated with a storage system. The solar plant will be installed at IGAT’s industrial site in the province of Caserta, with total capacity of 2.5MWp, boosting the company’s flexibility in energy management and enhancing its decarbonisation. IGAT, part of the SIAD Group, specialises in the production of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon. It recently secured funding through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for a green hydrogen initiative, which will produce green hydrogen through an electrolyser powered by EDP’s photovoltaic plant.
