Green hydrogen trial starts at Japan water plant | Hydrogen

A green hydrogen production trial has started at the Suntory Minami Alps Hakushu water plant in Japan. Located at Japan’s largest power-to-gas plant in Yamanashi Prefecture, the trial involves replacing part of the site’s heat energy with hydrogen using newly developed high-efficiency, low-NOx hydrogen boilers. The 16MW facility will explore how hydrogen can substitute natural gas in beverage production, a model with implications for decarbonising food and drink manufacturing globally. The trial also involves Suntory Hakushu Distillery. Plans for UK East Coast hydrogen pipeline move ahead | Hydrogen

UK gas distribution firm Cadent has unveiled plans for a 140km purpose-built hydrogen pipeline which would connect energy intensive industries in the Humberside and East Midlands regions of the UK. Major employers that will connect to the pipeline come from steelmaking, lime and brick manufacturing, chemicals and food & drink.
