Path2 acquires Canadian natural hydrogen start-up ProtonH2 | Hydrogen

Path2 Hydrogen has acquired a Canadian natural hydrogen company that claims its technology will produce low-carbon hydrogen for less than $0.75/kg. ProtonH2’s ISHG process stimulates natural hydrogen generation in depleted oil reservoirs. The firm has said this unlocks trapped hydrogen and converts mineral reactions underground into a steady supply of fuel. It involves injecting dioxygen (O2) into oil wells which reacts with hydrocarbons to generate high-concentration hydrogen syngas. Syngas can either be sold or separated into hydrogen for sale. However, the process does produce carbon dioxide (CO2). The company says ISHG “naturally sequesters” 15-20% of the CO2. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly limit to access free articles! Trump’s DOE axes $2.2bn funding for California and Pacific Northwest hydrogen hubs | Hydrogen

The US Department of Energy has terminated funding for two clean hydrogen hubs, previously selected for a combined $2.2bn. California’s Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES), and the Pacific Northwest Regional Hydrogen Hub (PNWH2) both saw funds cut as part of a wider $7.5bn rollback, largely targeting projects in Democrat-leaning states. The funding stemmed from the Biden administration’s $8bn clean regional hydrogen hubs programme under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly limit to access free articles! Dow confirms up to two-year delay for chemicals complex with blue hydrogen | Linde PLC News

Chemical company Dow Inc’s flagship blue hydrogen-based chemicals complex in Alberta, Canada, will be delayed by up to two years amid market weakness. CEO Jim Fitterling confirmed the delay to its Path2Zero project, originally announced in April, could last between one and two years until market conditions improve, pushing back what had been billed as a showcase for hydrogen in chemicals decarbonisation. The $11.5bn Path2Zero project plans to expand Dow’s ethylene and polyethylene capacity in Fort Saskatchewan while cutting around 1.5 million tonnes of annual carbon dioxide emissions. At the heart of Path2Zero is a large-scale blue hydrogen facility, designed to fuel Dow’s new ethylene cracker and existing operations in place of natural gas. Built and operated by industrial gas major Linde, the plant will combine hydrogen production with carbon capture and storage. Phase one… Read More »Dow confirms up to two-year delay for chemicals complex with blue hydrogen | Linde PLC News
