Yanbu green ammonia plant should be financed this year | Ammonia

A green ammonia plant at the Yanbu green hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia is poised to reach a final investment decision this year and start operations in 2030, according to Danish electrolyser firm Topsoe. The company has been appointed ammonia technology licensor by Saudi Arabia-headquartered utility ACWA Power, and it will also deliver engineering, proprietary equipment and catalysts to Sinopec and Tecnicas Reunidas, which have jointly been awarded the front end engineering design contract. Driss Berraho, Executive Vice-President of Business Development for Green Hydrogen at ACWA Power, said the collaboration with Topsoe would convert renewable energy into green hydrogen-based fuels, including green ammonia, at industrial scale. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly limit to access free articles! Climeworks rolls out DAC pilot project in Saudi Arabia | CCS

Swiss direct air capture specialist Climeworks has launched a live demonstration of its DAC testing unit at the KAPSARC site in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project, sponsored by the Saudi Ministry of Energy and think tank KAPSARC, aims to showcase the technology’s ability to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere under hot and arid conditions. This marks a departure from Climeworks’ flagship project Orca and its follow-up Mammoth, both located in Iceland. It also fits with Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’, which encompasses a range of initiatives aimed at decarbonising the country’s industry. This includes the Saudi Green Initiative, which has set a goal to reduce carbon emissions by 278 million tonnes annually by 2030, and a plan to invest $187bn in renewable energy projects to advance its pursuit of reaching net-zero by 2060. … to… Read More »Climeworks rolls out DAC pilot project in Saudi Arabia | CCS

Air Products says Neom is now 80% complete | Air Products News

Construction of the Neom project in Saudi Arabia is 80% complete, according to an update from industrial gas major Air Products. The ambitious project comprises a green hydrogen facility, wind turbines, solar farm, transmission grid, hydrogen storage vessels, electrolysers, cold box and pipe racks. The 4GW solar and wind power generation sites are scheduled for completion by mid-2026, with the first ammonia expected to be produced in 2027. The update follows a strategic change of direction in relation to Neom, which was set out in an earnings call last month in which Air Products recorded a $1.7bn Q2 loss. The company is now looking to sell green ammonia from the site to fill any revenue gaps, given ongoing challenges in the green hydrogen market. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register… Read More »Air Products says Neom is now 80% complete | Air Products News

Analysis: Why has Air Products rethought its Neom hydrogen strategy? | Air Products News

The 2.2GW Neom green hydrogen project has long stood out for its audacious scale and plans to deliver green molecules to Europe. However, those plans have now been delayed. While the plant will still start up at the end of 2026, Air Products, the plant’s owner, operator and sole offtaker, won’t immediately look to sell Neom hydrogen molecules to European industries. … to continue reading you must be subscribed Source link
