Nutrien shuts down Trinidad nitrogen operations

The closure of the Point Lisas facility is in response to port restrictions imposed by Trinidad and Tobago’s National Energy Corporation and what it termed as “a lack of reliable and economic natural gas supply” that has impacted cashflow. Nutrien said it would continue to engage with stakeholders over Trinidad operations. Ammonia and urea sales volumes from Nutrien’s Trinidad operations are approximately 85,000 and 55,000 tonnes per month respectively. © Nutrien However, the closure will lead to reduced global ammonia supply, potentially impacting regional markets and necessitating supply chain adjustments.
