Air Liquide advances low-carbon hydrogen in Singapore | Hydrogen

The Singapore business of industrial gas major Air Liquide has signed a memorandum of understanding with Aster Chemicals and Energy to assess the production of low-carbon hydrogen using autothermal reforming (ATR) with carbon capture.  The partnership will explore the potential of deploying an ATR unit with carbon dioxide capture, pairing Air Liquide’s reforming technology with Aster’s refining and petrochemical infrastructure.   Both companies said the work supports Singapore’s long-term plan to scale low-carbon hydrogen as part of its transition to net-zero by 2050.  “[This initiative] aligns with its global strategy to actively accelerate the development of a low-carbon society,” said Tina Loke, CEO of Air Liquide Singapore.   … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly limit to access free articles! Air Liquide starts up industrial-scale ammonia cracker in Belgium | Ammonia

Industrial gas major Air Liquide has begun operating its ammonia cracking pilot plant at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium. The unit can convert 30 tonnes of ammonia to hydrogen per day. The technology aims to showcase large-scale ammonia cracking as a viable method of solving the challenge of transporting hydrogen over long distances. “The commissioning of our ammonia cracking pilot unit in Antwerp is a key milestone,” said Armelle Levieux, member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee. “This is a world first which paves the way for new low-carbon hydrogen supply chains.” … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider subscribing to gasworld You’ve reached your weekly limit to access free articles! Air Liquide invests $50m to expand Texas hydrogen infrastructure | Hydrogen

Industrial gas major Air Liquide will invest $50m to upgrade existing hydrogen infrastructure as part of newly signed hydrogen supply deals with two US refiners. The investment will expand pipeline capacity and integrate new distribution systems to strengthen Air Liquide’s footprint in Texas, where it already operates pipeline infrastructure and its La Porte hydrogen facility. Air Liquide’s hydrogen pipeline network currently spans over 700km along the Gulf Coast, supplying major industrial hubs across Texas and Louisiana. The company’s Gulf Coast network is also connected to the world’s largest hydrogen cavern in Spindletop, Texas, which it has operated since 2017. Matthieu Giard, Group Executive Committee member, in charge of supervising operations in the Americas, said, “This strategic move reinforces our footprint in this … industrial basin and reflects our broader strategy to optimise hydrogen production and supply, leveraging… Read More »Air Liquide invests $50m to expand Texas hydrogen infrastructure | Hydrogen

Air Liquide finalises €500m green hydrogen plant at Port of Rotterdam | Hydrogen

Industrial gas major Air Liquide will build a facility to produce fully renewable, or green, hydrogen at the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands after making a final investment decision for the ELYgator project. The project, an electrolyser plant that splits water to produce hydrogen, will have a capacity of 200MW and is slated to begin operations by the end of 2027. The €500m facility will be located at the conversion park at the Maasvlakte area, where electricity from wind farms in the North Sea will be used to produce 23,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year for use by industry and heavy transport. According to Air Liquide, this will lead to a carbon dioxide reduction of 300,000 tonnes per year. … to continue reading this article and more, please login, register for free, or consider… Read More »Air Liquide finalises €500m green hydrogen plant at Port of Rotterdam | Hydrogen

Air Liquide ‘investing as planned’ on $850m Texas air gases project | large modular air separation units

Industrial gas major Air Liquide has said it remains confident about the status of its commitment to build, own, and operate four large modular air separation units for the ExxonMobil low-carbon hydrogen project that is planned for Baytown, Texas, in the US. On the company’s latest earnings call, Adam Peters, CEO for Air Liquide North America, said the $850m project was moving forward as planned, with $275m of capital spend now committed. “Our confidence [in the project and its progress] remains very strong,” said Peters. “We have followed probably 25 different projects along the [US] Gulf Coast that are related to ammonia. And this one [led by ExxonMobil] has the fundamentals and the partners and the like that make it among the strongest. It [also] has the scale.” … to continue reading you must be… Read More »Air Liquide ‘investing as planned’ on $850m Texas air gases project | large modular air separation units
